Happy Driving School Terms and conditions


1 General policies

1.1Driving Lesson Rates for International drivers

Single lesson: $ 180/1.5 hour for international drivers (or newcomers to Canada)

3 lessons for $ 520

1.2 Driving Lesson Rates for new drivers (Teenager and Adult)

Single lesson: $ 120/1.5 hour for new drivers

5 lessons for $ 580

10 lessons for $ 1,080

20 lessons for $ 2,200

30 lessons for $ 3,100

1.3 Road Test Package

$200 Car Rental includes 45 minutes warm up and student pick up/drop off. 

Note: If the client requesting a car rental is not a student of Happy Driving School a minimal 90 minutes driving skills assessment will be required. This will be charged at $180/1.5 hour.

For lessons in Langford, Central Saanich, North Saanich and Sydney add $20 to each lesson.

For lessons in Sooke and Duncan add $40 to each lesson.

All Prices excluding 5% GST.

Students must bring their valid learners/drivers license with them to each driving lesson. If you have a licence from another country, it is your responsibility to ensure that it is legal to drive within BC, Canada. Please check with ICBC. Failure to have your license will result in no lesson and will be considered a late cancel and a fee will apply before you may book another lesson.

Happy Driving School lessons are 90 minutes including a 5 minute debrief, and a minimal of 40 minutes practice time.

All teaching lessons are private one-on-one with your driving instructor. We allow a max of 1 additional person in the vehicle during the lesson for the purpose of observation. The decision to permit an observer in the vehicle is at the discretion of the Happy Driving School instructor.

2. Payment and Refund Policy

All lessons and or road test packages must be pre-paid by e-transfer at least 48 hours before any lesson may be scheduled.

There will be no refund for lessons that have already taken place.

If a package is purchased, unused lessons will be refunded (used lessons will be charged at the regular rate, and the balance will be refunded).

You will be charged $80.00 plus GST when you cancel the package. This fee covers administrative costs.

Lessons and road test package must be cancelled at least seventy-two (72) hours in advance to avoid being charged for the lesson. Cancelations must be done by e-mail to info@happydrivingschool.net

With less than 72 hours notice you will be charged $70.00 plus GST. This fee covers administrative costs.

If the student does not show for a lesson they will be charged for that lesson.

All pre-paid lessons must take place within 1 year of purchase. (Unless otherwise arranged)

3.  Road Tests

Our Happy Driving School instructors reserve the right to deny a student the use of our vehicle for the ICBC road test if we believe the student is not ready or unsafe to drive.

A student must sign an ICBC student consent and Release form before we can book a road test on your behalf.

ICBC Test and licence fee are not part of Happy Driving School fees

  • Class 7N Test fees: $35.00 Road test fee, and $75.00 for 5 year license
  • Class 5 Test fee: $50.00 Road test fee, between $17.00 and $75.00 for the licensing fee after the successful completion of your ICBC Road test. The fee will be $17.00 if your current license will expire in more than 6 months, $75.00 if your current license will expire in 6 months or less.
  • If you have any other fees owning to ICBC (i.e. tickets etc.) they must be paid before ICBC will permit you to take the road test. If you are in doubt, please call ICBC for confirmation. We will not issue refunds if road tests are denied because of outstanding fines.

NOTE: For cancelling a road test appointment made by the school, we require 72 hours notice, as we must notify ICBC. Failure to give Happy Driving School 72 hours notice may result in a late cancellation fee being charged by ICBC.
